Introduction
My name is Bridget Walsh, and I am a specialist candidate in the Instructional Technology Program at Kennesaw State University. I began the program in summer 2019 and expect to graduate in fall 2020.
Prior to starting the ITEC program at KSU, I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008 with degrees in English and Secondary English Education, grades 6-12. From there, I matriculated at the University of Oregon, where I received a Master's of Arts degree in English Literature and Composition in 2011, with a focus in New Media texts. I began my teaching career in 2013, as an adjunct instructor at Athens Technical College, instructing freshman composition and business writing courses. In 2014, I moved to K-12 education at Berkmar High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Currently, I teach AP English Language and Composition, and I have done so for the past five years. Additionally, I was part of the team to bring the AP Capstone program to Berkmar, and I have taught AP Seminar, as the first class in the Capstone program, for the past two years.
KSU's reputation in Instructional Technology has led me to pursue a specialist's degree in the Department of Instructional Technology. My ultimate goal is to improve my classroom technology repertoire according to research-based strategies and to coach others wanting to improve the effectiveness of student learning with technology. The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE Coaching standards. As you can see, there are a series of links above the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of
artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
I am thoroughly enjoying my experience at Kennesaw State University, and feel that, by the end of this program, I will be well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
